For my first Halloween Haunt at Worlds of Fun I want to say I was heavily impressed with how everything was. It was a great experience. I really liked the fact that we were sent through the houses in groups rather a continuous line, it was something new for me and I enjoyed it but the scares, the detail, and the theme at Haunt was perfect. I really enjoyed the brand new Overlords Awakening. It was unique and fun seeing all the houses being called together to one giant group then they would parade around the park to their houses. That was a fun experience and the spiel that the Overlord said was fantastic. I heavily enjoyed it. Everyone in the houses despite the cold stepped up and did their job! You’ll notice I graded each house and gave them high grades, it’s because they deserved it. We were having 30 degree weather and each house still stepped up and scared greatly!
Bloodshed – Fantastic house! I wanted to say that right away because it truly was a fantastic house. Every scare and detail was awesome. The pig scare was just so hilarious and cool at the same time. The outside portion of the house was even well done. A few nice scares happened outside. The ending was unique with the tunnel but it all played out well. The introduction of the slaughterhouse was very good with objects to push out of your way distracting you setting up for a good scare. The Bloodshed group gets 5 out of 5. The house was great.
Master McCarthy’s Doll Factory – Another great house. I was very impressed with house the doll theme was pulled off. Dolls everywhere and everything was just great. The lighting was cool in a lot of the rooms to. I can’t even pick my favorite room but rather I can say I liked the whole house. This is one of those houses you will remember because it just looks incredible. I easily gave the crew a 5 out of 5! Doll Factory is a great house and it gave me some good scares all throughout the house.
Lore of the Vampire ft. Club Blood – I got a few good scares in the upstairs portion of Lore of the Vampire but I think the downstairs portion is what did it for this house. I gave this house a good grade because of the downstairs portion. The upstairs section was fantastic and I screamed a lot but Club Blood is an awesome addition. The fact you can stop and buy a drink at the bar is extremely cool! There is a great subway scare to right before you even enter the house that is just unforgettable. But in the end I gave Lore a 5 out of 5 again. I keep giving 5’s because like I said these houses deserved them.
Dominion of Doom – I’ve never done an outdoor Haunt and at first I thought this was another scare zone until I was told it was an outdoor Haunt. I was pretty impressed for my first one. The scares were good because the fog was so dense in the area. With no wind like we had this area is perfect for scares. I jumped and screamed a few good times. It was just a really unique experience and I give Dominion a 4 out of 5.
Camp Gonnagitcha Wichatchet – This was my favorite of the outdoor Haunts. The length was great and the scares were plenty. I had one awesome scare were the screamster came up and scared me from behind by shaking a noise maker can at me. That really freaked me out. I was heavily impressed with the Haunt. Everything just played together perfectly and this camp theme that I got to experience was really something and well I loved it! The whole theme was perfect and pulled off nicely. The Camp scored high with a 5 out of 5. A great job by Camp here!
Asylum Island – My favorite house of the night! This is one house that really did it for me and went above and beyond on their scares despite the extremely cold temperatures that were out. I loved the length of this house to start with. It was huge! The length was great and the scenes were even better. The theme was kept throughout the whole house. The scares were just incredible! I jumped I think in every scene almost it was that good. I loved Asylum plain and simple. I’ve never been in a house where you had to use a flashlight to navigate through the house and that was pretty unique. I think the ending scene in Asylum was very well done as it set up for a good scare or two. The whole house was pulled of perfectly and the ending scene like I mentioned was strong. 5 out of 5 for the inmate of Lakeside Mental Hospital!
