I am not a water park fan at all (I haven't even been to OOF for 15 years), but I am intrigued by the  Riverwalk.  I think this will be a neat destination once it is fully complete.

I can't wait until it's done.

I'm not a big swimmer, but I love water slides. Haha.

Just went back to OOF after three years of being terrified of it due to almost drowning. >.>

Had fun. =] Another water park will be nice.

OoF has to get something done by 2011.  I fear if they don't start bringin new attractions soon in the next couple years to OoF, it could be very much like what happend to GL, but be just a full Theme park, instead of water.

I mean you got a "bring it or nothing",(As in they don't afford to have low attendance's and such blah blah) type of managed water park coming to the KC area.  CF is probably shaking in their boots.

You have to wonder if they will try to just make it one overall admission price for both parks.

I think that we've covered this before but from what I've heard OoF attendance stay steady with additions or without.  Schlitterbahn might change that dynamic but only time will tell.  If I was running OoF I wouldn't spend a ton of money until I had a better idea of how the market was going to shift.  Even then they could spend a ton of money and still see a decrease in attendance just because of the competition.

Edited to make sense. tard

I'll add that GL got into trouble by spending a ton of money in an effort to compete with CP.  If they would have stayed at a reasonable operating level they probably would have stayed in the hands of SF and stayed in business.

Spending doesn't always equal success.  Taking a smaller role and staying profitable is more important IMO.

Would or wouldn't

They are pretty different stores IMO.  Scheels is way more SPORTS oriented - ya know the thing that involves competition and a scoring systems.
While Cabelas is more hunting - ya know the thing that involves hiding in the woods with a bunch of dudes and rubbing deer urine all over each other...

So in short, I think they can coexist nicely as long as we can keep the rednecks from picking fights with those guys than run around town in full bicycle gear like Lance Armstrong or something.

Scheels has some hunting, fishing, and out doorsy stuff too. In fact the whole up stairs minus one small corner is all that kinda of stuff. At least the one here in Omaha is. We do have a Cabelas in Sarpy County and a Bass Pro in Council Bluffs. I think are all far enough a part they don't hurt each other though.

I am really surprised they won the bid. They were promising things they in no way had any right to promise. The biggest being. One of those was bringing a second NASCAR race. They decision is entirely up to NASCAR and Hard Rock has no sway over them. However, I think it is cool that we will finally get a Hard Rock of our own.

I went by the site Yesterday and I noted that the Geauga Lake rides they have purchased are now arriving on site. In fact some of it was being offloaded when I went by there. I can't wait to see that stuff go up.

We went on our first official construction tour today and the focus was the Torrent Tidal Wave River project.  Here are the previously announced details.

Quote
The 40-acre, year-round Schlitterbahn Water Resort, located in the Schlitterbahn Vacation Village, announces the first of many world-class attractions… the Torrent Tidal Wave River. This massive momentum river is powered by a monstrous 25,000 gallon, 20-foot-wide, tidal wave that races through more than 1,620 feet of waterway making it the longest attraction of its kind in the world!

Janessa and I experienced a similar attraction in the Bahamas this past spring and we're excited.

Shots from this morning can be found here http://coastercommunity.com/gallery2/v/Construction/schlitt/

Ben shot some video for us so we didn't have to take notes.  Both Jeffrey and Michael go into great detail regarding the Torrent Tidal Wave River as well as other parts of the park.  Several future announcements are in store.

You won't have to swim.  You can just hang out in a tube all day and pretty much ride everything in the park.  You'll just have to take the right exit.

Nice pics, this place is gonna be ridiculous. I echo the crowd, I hate waterparks, but I think I might be able to make an exception for Schlitterbahn.

Great pics.

Schlitterbahn should be good, but not the best, give it a couple years for it to grow, then it'll be great.
