Adventureland is doing something productive and forward-moving? I refuse to believe it.
This is a very, very good move for the park, I think. Des Moines doesn't really have a waterpark at all anymore. We have several high-end pools with a couple slides each, but nothing you could call a waterpark.

At the same time, we haven't gotten a new coaster for 13 years, and that was Underground, so it barely counts. And Dragon's plot is so big and beautiful...

The waterslide complex was supposed to have been added this past year, but with the economy they decided to hold off a year and add it in with what they were going to add in 2010 anyway.  This is very exciting for Adventureland Park.  I've always liked this place and this will give a good excuse to go back again next season (that and their excellent sky ride)

Sweet! I like Adventureland. Its a great place to take the family and the walking tacos are a hit. I wanted to try the mini donuts there but my wife wouldn't grab me any while I was with a crying child on Lady Luck! Arh!

I <3333 The Mini Donuts there at Adventureland.

I really think this is going to be a great addition to this park.
A lot of people like to "dog" Adventureland, but it is honestly one of my favorite parks to visit -- the "laid back" nature of the park makes it amazing.

^A lot of people meaning me, lol. I like the park, I just have a problem with their safety procedures and the way they treat their employees.

Awesome theyre getting a Tantrum slide! I was looking around Proslides website last week and saw the slide and it looks like a lot of fun. I might just have to go up to Adventureland next time I am in the Midwest.

That's very true. However, that doesn't make it any better that they require you to take certain loose articles (cameras, jackets, purses) with you on the rides. And the fact that they don't even pay their employees minimum wage or give them reasonable hours does not do much to help their cause.
Like I said, I like the park, I just can't see myself ever wanting to go again unless they make major changes or add a particularly attractive ride.

Don't they allow most of them to stay at the campground most of the season for a very reduced rate?

Yes they do, but the people who take advantage of that (which I have to say is a really cool program) are almost exclusively kind-hearted old retired folks looking for a little excitement. So it's fine for them, but they are by no means the only people who work there. $6.00 an hour for under-18s is a bit of a stretch. Of course, it comes out to about the same pay when you consider the ridiculous work schedule they put you on. And again, beyond that, they do not allow you to leave most loose articles in the station, at least at Outlaw, Underground, and Tornado. There's a YouTube video in which the operater actually tells the idiot with the camera to be careful not to drop it. I mean, there isn't a huge chance that something is going to happen, but if something did (and it could easily, as we all know), it would be a very nasty accident and a PR nightmare for the park.

That said, I do think this addition is a fantastic idea. I wish I liked water parks more, haha. :)
