SDC update (info no pics)

Much like some of the big biys in Orlando, SDC has moved into the "class-system" by offering a kind of "fast pass" for their shows.

http://www.bransonsilverdollarcity.com/offers-packages/default.aspx?id=153

For $15 you can skip waiting in line for the 3 most popular shows at Kids Fest and receive VIP seating.  I'm nost usre how well this will go over, but I cannot help to think that this is a trial run for the system as they will definitely be using it during OTC if it is successul.  Personally I do not feel compelled to spend the money (it is cheaper for APs) for these shows, but during OTC, it might not be a bad idea.

What are you opinions on this?

I wish that I could afford these types of things.  Theme parks are eventually going to have rich people days. :cussing:

That is a pretty good idea, but I am surprised to see something like this at SDC.

I just hope that some day SDC doesn't go the Universal route and build a resort and let those guests cut the lines for rides. That would officially suck.

I like this idea. I'm going to be there in a couple weeks, and if I were interested in those shows, I'd definitely fork out the $15. It'd be nice if they eventually did it for other shows.... Waiting an hour for an hour-long show at the Saloon definitely cuts into your riding time.

And that's the funny thing with SDC... They don't really need a "fast pass" system for their rides, but they do for their shows. That's what makes SDC so uniquely awesome.

I kinda like it but I have no plans on using it. Hopefully they don't oversell these things where there is no seats for the people waiting in the regular line.

Now in the past they have used the show reservation system but it didn't work well as they used it for all seats. So what happens is that all the show tickets were gone by 12 PM, so people showing up late to SDC had no chance of making it to any show as you had to have a reservation ticket to get in. Thankfully they only used this system at Kids Fest in 1997 for all shows and in 1998 for select shows at Kids Fest.

I wonder if they make Roller Coaster Coasters.

I have never actually gone to any of the big shows at the park.  It has always been to much of a tradeoff to wait in those lines.  But this sounds interesting and I think I might use it.

Well you are missing out as most of the shows at SDC are top notch.  I honestly can only do so much riding before it is time to take a break.

Yeah. I really do like having the air-conditioned shows to go to when taking a break from all the riding and stuff. But the lines are always pretty long (for the indoor shows). I'd have to say that with the exception of the line at Buzzsaw Falls on its opening day, I've never waited in a line for a ride at SDC as long as I have for their shows (usually the Saloon Show).

And that's where the value of the price of admission really comes into play. At SDC, you can see however many shows you can fit into a day, all for the price of one cheaper show in Branson. And the shows at SDC are always full of quality, so you're really getting a LOT of bang for your buck. Which is why I really do cringe when people jokingly call SDC "Steal Your Dollar City"... They just don't appreciate what they're getting. And even if they don't go to shows, the rides are definitely worth it; and the atmosphere's way better than some expensive place like Worlds of Fun.

Okay... I'm done ranting.  :hiding:

Anyway, love this idea and hope they implement it on other shows in the future.
