Planning trip to SFSL
« on: Mar 2, 2006, 11:20 »
We are planning on being in St. Louis on April 1st and 2nd and we want to stop by the park. We've never been there, I'm wondering if opening weekend will draw really big crowds? We will probably only be able to go on Sunday - I hope we wont' be doomed to major waiting lines. Also, how's the food? Should we fill up before we go to the park?

Depending on the weather, Crowds are usally low.  The opening of the Tower is not supposed to happen til may sometime.  The food, with the changes being made to the park. Its a new year, we will all have to see what changes are in store as far as food goes.  The outer road in front of the park has all your basic fast food and restaurants(Applebees, Denny's, McDonalds, White Castle, and others.  Just a few alternitves with in/out privelages for the park.  Cant go wrong with a turkey leg though, Mighty Tasety!  Probably the hottest item at the park!

Crowds should not be too bad, Be sure to bring a heavy coat, Boss is a chiller if the weather is cool.  Eagle also,

Last year was quite pleasen opening weekend!

I'm planning on Saturday, but I'm only 9 miles from the park!

The new Bugs Bunny National Park should be open but the tower still in progress.  The boys over at SFSTL.net have better details inside the park.

That is one of my goals, I have not been since I was 16.  Definately alot has changed there that was 23 years ago.  I am also looking forward to Patriot indeed.  I will let you all know when I can break free and head up your way.  I wrap up guitar lessons with a student and when I get that money a little vacation for the family will be in store.  Maybe some tips on my outing there, Look forward to the spinner coaster also, that looks wild.  I loved C
Chang when it was there, what a great classic steel.  I also remener a Whizzer coaster, and a flume style raft ride down hill like a super slide.  Like I said many years ago.

I would skip the turkey legs if I were you -- if the way they do things there is same as it was when Missy worked there... it was GROSS!!!

I have had only one, there but i here you the way they are cooked.  Seems this is the longest line there always.  My son likes them and has them more than I do.  To greasy for me.

Thanks for the turkey tip,  Dustijn. The last thing I want is a grumbly tummy at the park, esp since I'm a freak for the spinny-make-you-hurl rides. :puke:
We will defninetly take some warm weather gear w/ us Oldschool, I'm just crossing my fingers that it won't be raining.

I just checked out SFSTl.net - great resource. THanks for the tip Oldschool.  :icon_salut:

SFSTLOldSchool,

Are you planning on going for opening weekend?  If so we would love to host any photos that you take.  We really want to expand on the SFStl gallery and I probably won't get out there until late in the summer.  I think that Josh is heading over that way sooner and I might be able to talk Ben and Sara into taking their cameras but you really know the park and you probably know all of the best photos spots.

Sunday afternoon I wll be there, going just for that let the kids do there thing and me walk and be camera guy, take in the boss and the Half painted eagle.  Its a shame they could not finish the paint job for it.  The western half of the coaster will be finished at a later date.

And admire the tower from the inside of the park.
