Construction at Worlds of Fun
« on: May 15, 2006, 09:15 »
Well If you didn't see my post at wof.org:

Well I went by the park today and I noticed that there seems to be some Construction going on right behind the Forum Amphitheater Stage coming up on the the pathway.

The Fence behind the Forum has been removed along with some sections of fencing along the main pathway going towards the Mamba from the Forum road.

I don't think this is for a new ride for 2007 or a new laser show, What I am thinking is going on here is that this is where the new Clown House is gonna be for the Carnival of Carnivorous Clowns.

I did take a picture of this with my cell phone camera as it was the only camera I had with me today. When I took the photo of the site the workers seem to have a candied expression on their faces.

I wonder if they make Roller Coaster Coasters.

That seems like a tight fit for a new haunt, with as crowded as they get. This being the new site for CoCC makes sense, but it's awfully close to the beginning/end of Dominion of Doom (remember they changed mid-Halloweekends last year, I'm not sure which one they will stick with). Could it possibly be an addition for Doom, as it was a little boring last year?

Or, we could just speculate that a 250-foot Screamin' Swing will be here in '07, and this is just prep work.  dancing_banana

I also doubt that it involves anything ride related but it is an interesting event.

Thanks for the pics. :occasion14:

Hmmm :speechless:

I'm having trouble believe the Halloweekends angle.  It's really early to be working on a Haunt.

I'm not saying that I think it's a new ride but I will be curious to see what comes of it.

That takes the excitement out of it.

I wonder if this is the begining of the end for the forum though.  :whut:

A game? What a let down. Oh well, at least there will be something to fill in that long walk btwn Detonator and Mamba.

Beginning of the end?  No, that started when they put in Monsoon.  I would say that we are nearing the bottom of the tip of the iceberg though.

You're right.  The begining of the end started a long time ago.

So this is probably the begining of the middle of the end. :fart:

Monsoon was the beginning of the end because it created a path around Fury which made it very incovenient to get semis to the back of the stage for the concert series.  When Mamba was added that problem became even greater.  Coasters Drive-In then invaded what little space there was left to put a semi behind the stage and now with the entire backstage area looking to disappear -- I would say it is all in due time that the entire thing does as well.

With that being said let the rumours begin on what will go there...  I know of a certain rumor that came up from the mechanics awhile back that said something about a coaster that used the same stuff as that new one at Cedar Point (this was the year TTD came out) but would not be as high and would feature loops (ala Storm Runner) that was being planned for this area, but not before a huge coaster was built over by the Go-Carts.

I've always thought that the forum would be the perfect place for a rocket.  The launch could head up forum road.

If we go much further we may have to move this to the rumor board. headbang  :angel4:

Well it is for one of those 3-point shoot out games that is making so much money up at CP.  I guess if you hit so many 3pointers in a row you win an iPod or something like that.

My question -- I've heard there is more construction going on at the top of the hill with footers 9' deep and 4' wide.  Any more info?

I don't have anything going on until 1pm so I might head up there and see if I can confirm the "hole" rumor.

I can neither confirm or deny the validity of the report so if you could do that Jason I would appreciate it.

The new game looks to be nearing completion (photos below).

I can also confirm that there is absolutely NO construction happening anywhere else in the area.  No holes have been dug and there is no sign of any activity on top of the hill or in the forum area (other than the game of course).

That is all. :icon_king:

This might just be me, but still...

I thought it was poor taste to have the grave digger wagon in view behind a wall.  Now with the wall gone it is in plain sight.  How hard is it to take it to the warehouse with the rest of the halloweekend decorations?  OR even off-stage by the warehouses closest to the front gate?

I would think that something will be done with that.  The back side of the forum isn't very pretty to begin with. :tard:

As dustijn had said it is going to be a new basketball shoot-out where for $5 you have to make 12 baskets in 45 seconds.  If you do you win an Ipod.  They are doing this because CP built one and paid for itself in a week.

they should build 5 then!   :angel4:

Actually I think it sounds like a pretty good idea,  I would never do it, I wouldn't make the first one however I know a lot of people who would have a legitemate shot (pardon the pun) and ti.

They had it open last night for a buy out and it ended up just under $1000 last night.  It had a queue line and a rather large crowd of spectators.

I know at Coaster Mayhem it sure was busy.  It is a good location for the game as well.  Mr. Bender was there in the morning helping out with the game which I thought was pretty neat.  (I have photographic proof that I will show in my update later today).  Had a great day yesterday and I am looking forward to the rest of the season as well as next...

It's nice that WoF decided to make Skyliner at least look nicer.
