Adios CGA

It looks like CF took what it could over the last couple of years and then sold what's left.

I wonder what the new owners will do with it?  Everything that I've read indicates that it will continue to operate but I'm sure that there will be major changes in the next year or two.

Is RCDB not up to date?  I only show one coaster has been removed in the last 8 years.  Or are you referring to non-coaster stuff that I probably haven't been paying attention to?

Either way this most likely insures that I won't ever visit the park. I had only contemplated it in the past when I had a Platinum pass.

For some reason I thought that they had taken a couple of rides from CGA.  I just took a look at the Wiki page and it looks like the recent inverted Boomerang was the only one.

Good catch.

And the deal is off!

It will be interesting to see what direction the evolving CF corporate office chooses to take with CGA.

Will they try to sell again?  Will they continue to operate and develop the park like their other properties?  Or could Ouimet and his posse be daring enough to reinvent the property as a new type of entertainment venue?

For the past couple of years I've envisioned CGA being turned into a a multi-use entertainment district.  I say make the park free admission while keeping the waterpark a closed gate.  Keep the best performing rides available on a pay-per-ride or POP wristband (like NU at MOA).  I would reduce the number of company operated restaurants and retail locations and look to lease space to name brand stores and eateries.  I guess I'm essentially suggesting making it an outdoor version of MOA (but with the rides scattered rather than concentrated).  Between events at the football stadium, concerts at the amphitheatre and crowds making their way to the waterpark I'd like for it to be a hip place for locals to eat and shop.

Between SFDK and Gilroy Gardens I can't help but think that the only niche CGA has been able to claim is their Halloween event.  I have doubts that the park can truly grow as a traditional theme park.

Your idea makes a lot of sense.  I can't image that they're going to find another buyer any time soon.
