2009 Worlds of Fun Park Updates and Improvements
« on: Mar 15, 2009, 07:58 »
:hello:  Hey guys!  Great things are happening at Worlds of Fun this season other than a great coaster being put in.  There are some things obvious and some things not so obvious but it'll make a world of difference.

If you have been checking with www.worldsoffunorg you'll see that they did a great update on the park.  Several things have been repainted including ride entrances, some of the rides itself and the pumps at Nile.

Nile is receiving much love that has been needed for a long time!!  New lift with boards, new chains for the lift, new positioner, boards are being replaced on the turntable, newly refurbished pumps, and hopefully my request for them to flip on the geysers and fix the waterfalls goes through without a hitch.  (If you haven't noticed, I'm lead of this ride and I love it!!)

Timber Wolf is its new retracking project that will be on going throughout the years especially since it's 20 years old this season.

Voyager is receiving some fixings as well and you'll see it in the lakes and the water in and around the ride.

New store called "The Lift" across from Voyager, new Sheridan's location...I can't tell you how excited I am for Worlds of Fun!!!  They're doing such an amazing job.  I give them props for everything that they're doing and they're doing it for good reasons and you can probably guess why.

The park is already looking awesome and we have a little for than a month till opening.  This is a really big season for WoF and we are really excited to see everyone come out to see Prowler in May and I can't wait to see Coaster Con and Skills USA...in the same weekend!!!  30,000+ people!!  We are going to push the park's capacity which is going to be awesome!!  I'll be working all those days just for you guys so come visit Fury of the Nile and I'll probably be running around the turntable.

Here's to another great season at Worlds of Fun.  It's here to stay and will never die off!!

Jungle Juice? If people were drinking that, they would be spewing on every ride.

Ha, college is fun.

Also, it doesn't look like what sandwhich shop it is going to be made the map...I hear its a chain we know!

Oh, and new logo on the homepage too. Looks much crisper than the old one.

How often do you guys check the main site?  I have Prowler book marked so I rarely see what's going on.

Big Jack's Jungle Juice was the original name of that snack stand, it was shortened to Big Jacks several years back.  I think the full name made its way back on the map at the same time that Norma's got its name back (of course named after Norma Hunt).  Now lets see about Clark's Wheelbarrow, Daniels Danish Deli, Lamar's Libations, and Rick's Cafe.  :)  Yes I am sad.

BTW anyone else out there training this weekend with me?

Your training is this weekend? Mine is the weekend after next. And you don't look so sad with a spinning smiley face! Haha. Where were Clark's Wheelbarrow, Daniels Danish Deli, and Rick's Cafe?

I thought it was Clarks' Wheelborrow (a play on words) -- Matt it was located near the Americana entrance

Dustijn,
I'm really  not sure, I worked there a few times in Merch. in 1997, but if you go back and look at the old maps its was Clark's Livery Stable.  It must have changed names sometime.  Matt, this was where people rented their stollers, wheelchairs, lockers when the Americana gate was still around and in use.  Its still there its that blue and white barn right next to what was previously known as Sheridans.

Rick's Cafe was Tut's in Africa, Daniel's Danish Deli was about where Plaza Gifts is  now (in scandinavia) and Lamar's Libations was the smoothie stand in Europa.

Where are you working this year Matt?

I forgot to mention yesterday that we popped into the new shop across from Viking Voyager (The Lift) and I was blown away by the changes.  I'd like to encourage everyone to stop by and check it out this weekend.  I think that you'll agree that it's the nicest shop in the chain.

Speaking of this weekend.  I heard that it's only supposed to rain Saturday morning and be really nice in the afternoon.  :sunny:

Ooo! I'll have to take a look at that on Saturday.
Just to clarify, this new shop is located where "Girls Only" used to be, correct?

For Girls Only is still there -- this shop is directly across from the entrance to Viking Voyager -- used to be called Norseman's Niceties

Raise your hand if you ever even went into Noresman's Niceties.  Actually don't cause if you did you're dumb. nutkick pure_evil

This store looks very nice and will be a great addition to the park.  I think it is a good thing to see the park updating things like this, details such as this are what makes otherwise equal parks stand out from the crowd.
