There's going to be a new kids section at the front of CP?

Not new, revamped

Where?

Where the old Berenstein Bears Country was located -- now Peanuts Playground

Are they going to move the existing kid stuff to the new area?

No, Camp Snoopy, Kiddy Kingdom and Jr. Gemini Midway will all stay put.  This is being added in addition to what is already offered at the park.

The Beaver coaster seems like a total waste at CP.  Isn't it similar to their existing family coasters?

I can understand the desire to beef up the family flat selection at CP but the coaster move just doesn't make much sense IMO.

I think that the move of the coaster is perfect that piece of property needs something bad! With the revitalization of peanuts playground and the rumors of putting a new show in the old aquatic stadium it will get a lot of families over toward the beach gate! I cant wait to see it next season!!

I agree that the Beaver coaster is a close match with the existing family coasters at CP.

A overhaul at CP in the family department is a good idea but that coaster didn't need to be a part of it.

There are a handful of other CF parks that don't have anything remotely close to that ride.

I agree!
I know that my kiddos would love to have another kid-friendly coaster to be able to enjoy at WOF.  Honestly, when my daughter that is less than two years old is bored while riding the Wacky Worm, what does that say?

Wacky Worms are moving credit machines. That is all.

BLMR is definitely better than Woodstock, but they're really too similar .

There is supposed to be an announcement about the capital expenditures for 2008 sometime this month if it gets approved by HQ to release it.

Just going off what I was told.  I honestly have no idea what it is.

Only thing I know for sure right now is that Adventureland is getting a water play fort like Paradise Falls next year and that SDC is supposed to announce stuff soon and while it will be nice, it is not too exciting in my book.

Well looking at CF's press release about the 2008 attractions.  It looks like the only parks that weren't listed were Valleyfair, Worlds of fun, and Kings island.  It said family attractions and a new thrill ride will debut at 3 of the cedar fair parks.  Valleyfair and Kings island both got coasters in 2007, worlds of fun didnt!  I'm thinking WoF is getting the thrill ride.  I hope

California's Great Adventure - Fire Fall (TopSpin)
Canada's Wonderland - Behemoth (B&M hyper)
Carowinds - Wave Pool
Cedar Point - Planet Snoopy (relocated kiddie rides for GL)
Dorney Park - VooDoo (relocated impulse)
Kings Island -
Kings Dominion - Dominator (relocated B&M floorless)
Knotts Berry Farm - Pony Express (Booster Bike)
Michigan's Adventure - Thunderhawk (relocated SLC)
Valleyfair -
Worlds of Fun -

Now reading the press release it says that
"Family attractions and a new thrill ride will debut at three of Cedar Fair’s parks."
However it goes right into talking about Cedar Point, CGA and Carowinds.
CP and Carowinds have the 2 family attractions and CGA has the thrill ride.

Don't loose hope yet, there are still 3 parks to announce.
Though I won't be too surprised that KI doesn't get anything this year as they are getting a B&M hyper in '09, which was confirmed in the last edition of First Drop -- the ECC magazine.

is anyone thinking about rides from the old Paramount parks showing up in KC?  I'm hearing no way from other bloggers but supersonic might fit in the Plunge site.?.

HYPERsonic would be an interesting addition to WoF. I've wanted to ride that for a while now.

That ride is for sale as far as I know and I think that CF wants to get rid of it rather than move it.

I think it would be an interesting fit for WoF though

Hypersonic is by far one of the roughest coasters out there.  The car bounces down the track on those tires that were supposed to make the ride smoother.  After the shot up and down the track meanders back to the station.  The restraints bruise your legs and its just not a very good ride.

It appears that we will be receiving Geauga Lake's carousel.  It is a 1926 Illions antique.  It is famed for its ornate wooden animals and high-speed turn.  I hope that it makes it way to Scaninavia in the courtyard area there near the gate.  I think that that area could be redone to make it feel more like a front gate area.

The carousel is quite beautiful btw (will go over well with the families, esp. if it is in the front) but I still hope that WOF could receive their Ferris Wheel. Seriously, Skyliner cannot compare to Colossus at SFStL or other large-size wheels. Some flats would be nice also. They are dismantling a huge park- couldn't they spare some flats? :-)

My opinion:
Starcastle Voyage: could make a nice addition to Camp Snoopy.
El Dorado: it would fit in well in Americana somewhere
Time Warp: I would love for WOF to have a Chance inverter.

btw, does that mean that the Huss Top Spin (the 1st in the US) was the one being put in at Great America? Quite sneaky of CF if they did it- they were using that addition in their valuations for the possible 49er buyout.

Why on earth would anyone want El Dorado? If memory serves me correctly, which it most often does, that ride was slower than most kiddie coasters, is deathly uncomfortable, and goes on forever.

As much as I loathe Inverters, I would be almost okay with Time Warp.
From that list, I would take Americana and Sky Scraper.

Also, if Valleyfair! gets anything substantial next year and WoF gets scrap, I will be quite upset.

Both Skyscraper and Americana would sure change the skyline in a positive way
