Possible Wood Coaster for WoF
« on: Feb 7, 2007, 04:14 »
Here's where the discussion started.

http://www.worldsoffun.org/community/wofforum1.asp?threadid=33729&forum_id=1

Below is prime expansion real estate.   The only other options are in the field between TW and Worlds of Fun Ave, The Orient Lot and the Forum.  After looking at this photo is hard to imagine many areas within the park that would allow a new coaster to fit.  If you look at TW it gives you an idea of how big of a foot print a twister layout is.

I think WoF deserves a second wooden coaster ( especialy after hearing that Timberwolf is a rough ride ).

This could be interesting if WoF does get the woodie in 08 because in the last conference call for SFI Shapiro said that in 08 they ( SFI ) would be focusing mainly on coasters and thrill rides around the 5 mil. range. Desent sized coaster around 5 mil.= could equal a smaller woodie for STL in my opinion so it would be interesting if WoF and SFSTL each got a woodie in the same year.....But whatever the case I hope that this rumor is true and WoF does get the woodie.

Great!!! pure_evil

You guys are going to Mamba us again.  We're going to build the first one and then a few years later you're going to get one that's 10 times better.  :bs:

^ I never actually thought of that.

Renegade looks like a winner though and I can't imagine GCI building a ride that's 10 times better than anything that they've already build.

That's true.  Most of the GCI's seem to be on a level playing field.

I guess now I can hope that we Mamba you on Patriot.  We'll have to get an invert at some point, at least I hope we do.

They need to build a wooden coaster, and a steel one. Something like Wildfire but different.

The steel one should be a launch coaster IMO.

You guys also know that Dorney Park is also supposed to get a woodie for the 2009 season but they also have a really good chance of getting Steel Venom so you just don't know. I think a second woodie would be great for the park because hearing that Timberwolf is rough so it will be nice to see a smooth GCI woodie. This is going to end up being intresting and it would be crazy to see the WoF getting a woodie and invert within 2 or 3 years since it is kind of ignored.

Ignored? 4 new coasters in less than 10 years is anything BUT ignored.

1998 - Mamba
2000 - Boomerang
2004 - Spinning Dragons
2006 - Patriot

At least you accept it. Better than most other Valleyfair! homeparkees.

I've always said that idiotic "ghost town" area of the train ride needed to have something done with it. I've also always said a terrein GCI would be perfect in OE's old lot, but that crams a bunch of coasters into a small area.

As I have said before you can have the entrance to a GCII, in Orient's lot, over in Scandinavia so that you can at least get a major thrill ride in that area besides Voyager.

If they were going to do that, they wouldn't waste the time or money retracking it in the off seasons like they have been doing the last two years.

Sorry, you got the wrong rumor, Chris Ozimek said its not coming down at the end of this year or the end of the 2008 season.

If they were going to do that, they wouldn't waste the time or money retracking it in the off seasons like they have been doing the last two years.
loser

Quite Correct!

Even *I* will agree that it's better; that's coming from a fairly adamant "hater". After a couple years of refusing to ride TW because of how rough it is, I decided to try it out last week because I'd heard about the retrackings....

Well, you can certainly tell what parts have been worked on and what haven't. I noticed that the hills were smoother than the more level curvy areas. I suppose they wanted to give smoothness to the airtime first.

I think once they've finished all parts of the track, I might actually ride TW at least once each time I go to WoF.

I can not wait to ride it at Coaster Mayhem. It has always been one of my favorite rides at WOF even when everyone complained about how rough it was. I can't wait to feel how smooth it is.

Timber Wolf is as smooth as glass even in its roughest days compaired to the appropriately named Great American SCREAM Machine at SF Georgia.  That thing was HORRIBLE.

Honestly it made Timber Wolf seam like a brand new GCI.
