Has anyone else read this on Screamscape? I doubt the validity of it, but it makes you wonder.

Park News - (8/24/07) Okay…I said I was going to lay off the Geauga Lake stuff for awhile but the message from our latest reader was so urgent, I just had to post something. They claim that not only is the Dominator in danger of being removed, but they claim Thunderhawk may end up being moved as well. They end with the message that anyone wanting to take a last and final ride on any of your favorite rides should do so before the park closes on September 16th because you never know just what may not be there next year.
While Dominator would be a good fit at almost any of the Cedar Fair parks, as only one or two Floorless coaster in the entire chain, Thunderhawk would be a more difficult item to fit. If you throw out all the parks that already have B&M Inverted coasters as well as Canada’s Wonderland that already has an SLC… and throw out Kings Dominion which has Volcano: The Blast Coaster, that leaves you with three choices for Thunderhawk:

Kings Island – The least likely since they have Invertigo and Firehawk, and I don’t think they want another castaway from Geauga Lake so soon.

Valleyfair – The park would benefit from Thunderhawk’s small footprint and the only Inverted ride there is Steel Venom. But they just added Renegade, so it may be too much too soon.

Finally we come to Michigan’s Adventure where it’s been rumored that ground activity may have started for something big in the back of the park near the Rapids they added last season. Certainly ThunderHawk would fit in here and the park does have a need for a new coaster.

I did see a small earthmover in that area back in June, but that probably doesn't mean anything.

I call dibs on Dominator! I want that coaster at WOF badly -- man that would really add some power to our line up!!!

Definately. Dominator would be probably the best at Worlds of fun, my guess.

Unfortunately I don't think it will be coming to WoF. It would be a great addition to the park. It would definitely help WoF pull over some of that future Schlitterbaun traffic.

I'm sure that once GL trims a few more rides they'll be able to return to the black.

The water park will be the bread winner though a small ride park will be an excellent compliment.

Thunderhawk is perfect for MI.

I can't see Dominator being on the move list but if it was I highly doubt that it would come our way. I would be more than happy if it wound up at Valleyfair though. They might see me more than once a year if that was the case. Since it's a 3 train op I also wouldn't be surprised if it went to one the big players.

Well the rumour mill also says FSS from CaroW is supposed to go to GL, but on the waterpark side

Doesn't GL have a boomerange? You'd think that would have been one of the first rides to go. I'd bet that the boomerange and the old Arrow looper will go before Dominator does. I mean, Dominator is huge, it'll really have to be bleaker than hell before that thing gets moved anywhere. I just hope the woodies are safe, especially the bobs.

I was actually really surprised that they didn't remove Head Spin last year. There's really nothing else back there now. I could see them closing that section off completely and moving Big Dipper's entrance.
Head Spin seems more likely to leave than Thunderhawk to me. And Head Spin is more MIA's style. Small and rough.
Then I could envision Thunderhawk going to VF! (boy, that would get the fanboys mad) in a couple years.
When GL finally decides to go full-on waterpark, I think they'll relocate or sell everything but Big Dipper and one or two flats. Hopefully that involves melting down Villain and turning it into an office building somewhere in Nebraska. They could probably sell Double Loop and RWB to a couple small parks. I can imagine one of them going to Gilroy Gardens. Obviously, they'll relocate Dominator. That's too good for CF to give up. I would prefer that it went to Worlds of Fun, but I could also understand Carowinds or KGA. BLMR would go well just about anywhere. They could even keep it if they moved it to a different part of the park.
Then they could sell part of the amusement park half to real estate and expand the waterpark around the lake to both sides of Big Dipper. Obviously, everything from CP's Soak City would have to be moved to GL.
Not only would this plan eliminate all competition with Cedar Point, it would give people a real reason to visit Geauga Lake.
That's my vision, at least.

Lance at Screamscape is now reporting that it is confirmed that Dominator is going to KD and Thunderhawk is going to MiA. Who knows if anything else will be leaving.

I know that will leave them with 3 woodies, HeadSpin (Boomerang), Beaverland Express (long ass train family coaster) and Double Loop (Arrow).

I say that if we can get the Beaverland Express coaster we should go for it. It could be a nice addition to Europa -- it would fit there behind Dutchman.

Excuse me, "Captain Obvious," it's Beaver Land Mine Ride, not Beaverland Express.

I thought that was fairly apparent.

I don't trust Screamscape. I just can't see GLP taking out Dominator. It's the only really marketable coaster they've got left. KD has Volcano, Hypersonic, and even FoF. That would be a dumb move on CF's part.

Unless they moved it to WoF or VF!. I would be okay with that.

2. I don't know how you can even compare FoF to Dominator. That would be like saying WoF doesn't deserve Patriot because they have Boomerang.

3. I don't know much about Volcanoe but I have fealing it is difficult to compare to Dominator as well.

I would love to have this ride at WoF or VF but I think it might be a little out of our league since it is a three train ride. Also the timing isn't great for either of our parks to get a new coaster.

If they HAVE to move this ride after this season I think KD is the best fit in the chain for this coaster.

I for one think it stinks that this ride will be going even further away from me...

Okay, then.
1. It's still a really fast ride that scares people. Advertisable.
2. I'm not comparing it to Dominator in any way. You're right, that's no comparison at all. I'm saying that it's still a fairly high octane ride that they can advertise.
3. I have heard nothing but great things about V:BC. And again, I'm not comparing it to Dominator.

I do think that KD needs a good coaster, but I don't think Dominator is the right one. At least not right now. I would so much rather see a Behemoth-like hyper there.
I could also easily see Dominator going to Carowinds. That seems like a pretty good fit as well.

I would understand it if it went to KD, but it would still be a bad movie.
What I was saying was that KD has a few good coasters that they can advertise to get people in. Dominator is Geauga's last shot. Take that away and the park has no chance.

Ben, it sounds like a done deal as far as TH and Dom moving after this year. Really sucks for GL, but what can you do. If it was me, I think I would move all the water rides over the waterpark side now and not even worry about opening the ride side next year. They have a seperate entrance over there anyway so it wouldn't surprise me if they did.

Another Knott's Soak City anyone?

Sweet I'll get to ride Dominator even sooner now as I am for sure going to KD and BGW both well I am in Virginia next summer.
Now that I think about it that still wouldn't be as soon as I would ride it if they would move it WOF. However if they have to move anywhere but WOF, KD is a great place.

New for 2008 at every Cedar Fair Park: used rides from GL!

I think we should get their gondola ferris wheel. It would be nice where Skyliner is.

I just don't see them closing the whole park down.

Cutting it way back and leaving the water park still makes the most sense IMO.
