I think he'll be a very good pro QB.  He'll have to improve pocket presence though.  He seems to have happy feet.  He has the accuracy and arm strength though.

I think it is goofy to think a guy is not a good Quarter Back because he is made of porcelain. He may be injury prone but he can make passes a lot of guys in the league can't including Mr. Daniels who looked terrible last week when he came into replace Brees. I would have no problem with The Chiefs trading up to get Gabbert and shipping the idiot Brody Croyole out!

If Cassell's their guy long term then there's no reason to trade up for a backup.

I was down on Cassell for a long time but I'm starting to warm up to him.  They've really turned him around.

Completely disagree with that.  The Chiefs were one win shy of a 3rd seed this year.  If we had a better backup maybe we would have won the San Diego game.  I'm not saying we would have scored 31 points, but had the Chiefs scored at all in that game the Chargers would have had a lower time of possession and conceivably a lower score. Croyle will never be the starting quarterback Herm Edwards thought he could be.  His contract is up this year provided it wasn't extended.  It's time to release him.

I'm fine with releasing Croyle or bumping him down to 3rd.  I just can't image trading up in the first round to take a QB that you plan on having as a backup.

Take one in the later rounds.

I'd like to see our first pick used on another WR or an OLB'er opposite of Hali.  A NT wouldn't ruin my day.

I don't see Cassell being the long term answer just saying. Ecspecially if Wiess does leave.

I'm not totally sold on him either but I'm guessing that Scott Pioli is.  He has certainly improved beyond my initial expectations though.

I'm in the same boat with Jason on Cassel. I'm not 100% sold but it's night and day compared to early in the season. His biggest weakness IMO was his tendency to hold on to the ball too long, and that's not an issue any more, and his accuracy on his deep passes has gotten a million times better this season. And his contract will ensure that he's the starter here for the foreseeable future.

I'd vote pass rusher first, WR second, backup QB third on the draft priority.

Larry Fitz would end the need for drafting a WR.

Josh McDaniels has been brought up a lot.  It would be strange to see him and Haley working together but the guy knows how to run an offense.  The other two that keeping coming up are Mike McCoy (OC in Denver) and Greg Olson (OC in Tampa).

I guess I should clarify what I meant.  I feel we need a better back-up QB.  Should we trade-up to get a better first round pick? Definitely not.  I have never felt that Cassel was the issue.  I have always felt the issue was the O-line and the receivers.  The Raiders game was proof of that to me.  Brady or Manning wouldn't have been able to do much better with our O-line last Sunday.  Hopefully that was just a fluke and was a case of bad calamari or something.

Otherwise, I agree an OLB should be Round 1 or 2. I think McCluster still has a chance to be the other main WR, but he is replaceable at this point.

I agree with all of that except McCluster.  Keep him as a slot guy that you occasionally run out of the backfield.  I wouldn't want to see him as an every down WR.

Andrew Luck is staying at Stanford for his Sr year.  He was likely going to be the top pick or at least the #1 QB taken.  Him staying is good news for Gabbert.  He probably just made a couple of million because of that.

How about J.J. Watt out of Wisconsin for a pass rusher he just declared and we could probally get him in the 2nd or 3rd and he is really good

Well, Jason you got your wish.  We got a powerhouse receiver.  Honestly he reminds me more of a certain TE we used to have than a typical WR.

That's exactly the comparison I had in mind too. I thought it was a reach (we could have traded up to mid-2nd round to grab him probably) but in the end we still got quality at all our positions of need. I really like the pick of Houston (I wanted to grab him with our 3rd pick, I was excited to see him last until our 4th.)

How about them Tigers.  2nd most 1st round picks (behind Alabama) total in the last 3 NFL drafts.  2 in 2009, 1 in 2010, 2 in 2011
