Well other than the one blemish in Lawrence, Big XII looked pretty impressive today.
We'll see if Big XII can go 11-1 this weekend after the TT/SMU game tomorrow in Lubbock.

Nebraska still has a lot to figure out. I as a Husker fan definitely do not feel comfortable saying Big 12 Championship is a lock like a lot of local Sports Radio guys are leading us to believe. It should make for an exciting year. We may have another Tommie Frazier on our hands in Martinez though! The kid is real quick and I believe was 90% passing. Unless something drastic happens in the Idaho game I see him getting the start in the Washington Game!

I'll be honest that I was not impressed with any of the "Top 4" teams in the Big XII yesterday.

Oklahoma SHOULD HAVE been beat by Utah State.  Winning by just 7 points AT HOME just doesn't cut it, especially when the other team is Utah State.

Texas had way too many dumb mistakes.  Not scoring on a 4th and 1.  Not holding on to interceptions for touchdowns and just too many penalties.  I sure hope they don't think that the Big XII is that big of a cake walk that they can not play their "A-game"

Nebraska seemed dominant, but at the same time allowed the 'toppers to score way too many points on their "blackshirts are back" defense.  This team had lost 20 games in a row coming into this match.  Big Red should have hung a lot more points on them.  What I saw was Big Red allowing the 'toppers to think they had a chance here and there through out the game.

Mizzou apparently did not get the memo of when the game started.  They sure were flat the first half.  Luckily they came out and shut down Illinois completely the 2nd half.  I am very concerned with how the Offense is leaving 4 points on the field by settling for field goals deep in the red zone.  I will say it was nice to see Gettis finally step it up.  Too bad that was probably a "one and done" from him as he sure likes his nickname of "toast"

I'm calling it now. Georgia Tech will beat Kansas. If they lost to North Dakota State I cant imagine what a ACC team will do. Mizzou should have a easy win which of course makes me very happy. I'm just glad to see that things so far are not looking like last year. I hated how whenever I actually got to watch a game of Mizzou's(Which is rare in FL) they would do incredible the first half, come out second half and forget how to play almost because it was just mistakes left and right. Hopefully that wont happen and the tigers will play great football this season.

Well I will hold out judgement on this year's crop of Tigers for a few more games yet.  To me it is impossible to figure out which half was the real Tigers.  I could not get over how flat they came out the first half.  The 2nd half was a completely different team, and reminded me of the team that destroyed Illinois last year.  IDK, we might have to wait until the Colorado game to find out which half was the real Tigers team. (I sure hope it wasn't the first half Tigers *gulp*)

...as for the GT / kU game.  I sure hope they have a mercy rule in college football.  Wow, will that game be ugly.... but then again, Bill Turner might surprise us and have a real football team play next weekend.

Way to go out on a limb saying GT will beat KU...

Saturday's KU game was the most embarrassing, pathetic display I've ever seen. I was optimistic going into the year, but from seeing all the undisciplined football, penalties, clock management issues, and communication problems, the coaching staff might be in over their heads just a little.

And this was the worst day this year for KU fans. No doubt.

kansas is not "down and out" quite yet.  I do believe they will win a few games this season.  While next week will no doubt be another does of "humble pie", I expect the hawks to pull out wins against Southern Miss and NMSU.  With that being said, they will need to really do a 180 from this past weekend.  I know that Turner Gill wanted to use the "love and logic" approach this year to distance himself from Magino, but I think after the performance last week he just did not have boys prepared to go, and it might be time to light some fire in their eyes for the rest of the season.

While I am not a fan of kU, complete opposite to be honest, I am counting on them to help the North be more dominate than the South this year.  I sure hope they can do that.

Wow.  I'll agree that the loss to NDSU for KU was unacceptable, but it sounds like most fans have already thrown in the towel on this season AND Turner Gill.

Realistically KU fans had to see this as a down year.  They are almost starting from scratch with the new coach.  They'll have to give this guy a couple of years to see if he can build something and he's going to have to learn how to play with the big boys.  I'd image that this year is going to be pretty painful for him.

As a local sports fan I was way more disappointed in the tourney loss back in March.

A down year, yes. But losing to a Missouri Valley football team (who went 3-8 last year) is completely unacceptable. Even in the worst years of Terry Allen, KU hasn't lost to a I-AA team.

It's far too soon to call for his head and he absolutely deserves a grace period. I just didn't think KU would be embarrassed this bad this early.

I think most KU fans expected that.  They had a bad habit of not waking up until the second half and trying to come back from 20 point deficits.  I think most fans knew deep down that it was only a matter of time before they played a team that had more heart and the ability to keep up for a full 40.  As to football I've always been a fair-weather KU fan, but after looking in to what happened that is absolutely embarrassing.  More so than the arrests/suspensions MU has been dealing with.

It's looking like a down year for us that don't care either way.  I like when the local schools do well and it makes the local battles more exciting.

So it's up to KSU and MU to make some noise.

KSU had some sparks of life against a very pathetic UCLA team.  I was happy that the 'cats got the win after pretty much getting their noses rubbed in it last year at the Rose Bowl.

Mizzou will do just fine this year, I think that they are very capable of getting at least 9 wins, maybe 10 if they pull out an upset in one of the games that I am predicting them to lose.

The one thing that I cannot get over is how everyone in the media is drinking the Nebraska Kool-aid and singing about how this team is so amazing.  They beat a team that has lost 20 games in a row AND that team was actually in the game for awhile and honestly got (imho) way too many yards offensively on the "black shirts are back" defense of NU.  Personally, while I respect our NU fans on the board here, I am ready to show the nubs the door.  Good riddance.

My big question is will Baylor be Bowl Eligible this year?  I think that they 6 wins this year and that would be a major boost of confidence for that program.

Western Kentucky was never in the game if you watched it you would know that. NU only allowed 73yrds in the 1st half.
WK didn't score until the 3rd quarter when they kicked a FG and NU was up 28-0 before that. They scored one other time in the 4th on 2 confused LB's. We had 2 linebackers that were told the day before the game that they were getting the start because of injuries. Not to mention our D Line had a lot of switches in the 2nd half to keep bodies fresh.
Well I am not saying 100% NU is winning the North I wouldn't go to sleep on them either.
Mizzou and KSU both are going to be strong opponents for NU I agree.

Remember this is the D that allowed I think 700 total yards to Florida Atlantic last year and they got a lot better as the year went on! BO knows Defense and you Guarantee the problems we had in that game will not continue all season.

Sorry I worded that incorrectly. What I meant was they allowed WKU too many yards of offense, the Defense should have been more dominate.  Anytime you allow the 119th team in the nation to have a single player (Bobby Rainey) to rush for 155 yards and a score on 30 carries... that leaves something to be desired.

We had 2 linebackers that were told the day before the game that they were getting the start because of injuries.

Ok, I wasn't aware of this.  That makes a little more sense.

Yea both LB's are really inexperienced. I agree that, that is to many yards. Also we had them a key player from the D Line (Cameron Meridith) get injured and taken out of the game because of it in the 3rd Quarter right before their first score. HaHa!

So when does basketball start?

Did you hear about the press conference for the announcement of Lew leaving?  I guess Self acted as the "AD" and made the comment that there were plenty of good seats available for season ticket sales in basketball.  I had to laugh a little at that.  kU has always been hit and miss in most other sports, but even as much as a Tiger fan as I am, you cannot take away the fact that kU has quite the basketball tradition.

:speechless: WOW is all I have to say....

Quote from: NDSU Head Coach Craig Bohl
"I think the environment that we're going to play in Cedar Falls is going to be much more of a hostile environment than Memorial Stadium in Kansas. That was pretty docile, and the type of team that we're going to be playing is going to be a much more physical, aggressive football team than KU. And quite frankly I think we're going to be playing a better opponent"

The state as a whole is lower than the national average.  Both the State and county are in the 6% range. Granted, the state always shows below the national average and that is high for the state.

I know that this is totally off topic but Bradley is right.  It's one of the things that I like about this part of the country.  When things are bad they aren't quite as bad here.  The trade off is that we don't boom when they are booming in other areas.

I'll take the stability that we've got.

And I'm sure that KU will wind up selling out their season tickets.
