    • COASTER WORLD NEWS IS NOW ON WAVY 10'S VIDEO SECTION

Mark Shapiro, the new CEO of Six Flags Incorporated, continued his Six Flags park tour yesterday with a stop at Six Flags New England, two days before the park opens to the public for the 2006 season. Mr. Shapiro once again stressed to the park employees that he will focus on more landscaping, parades, food, and costumed characters at all the Six Flags parks in the United States this year. Mr. Shapiro stated that the Superman: Ride of Steel, which boasts a 221 foot 1st drop, will remain at the park, but he stated that the park got in debt after that coaster was installed.  He also said that customer service was bypassed so that the Superman coaster could be built. In response to this, Shapiro stated: "I don't believe a $20 million roller coaster, which is how this company got into trouble, ever pays for itself. Don't get me wrong: I love roller coasters. But they target such a niche. Only 1,000 people an hour can ride Superman. Diversified entertainment is what we're aiming for." But that is just the beginning of changes for the park, as Shapiro has stated he envisions the Six Flags parks this year to be more Disney-esque, without having to catch a plane and pay thousands of dollars for a vacation. Mark also added that he is going to work with the Massachusetts state officials to see about putting in more billboards along I-91 to direct people to the park, to make it easier to find. DETAILS.

Yeah if you haven't got the goods to have a ride like this and then lose your customer service which is VITAL for any park, sounds like you don't need another major ride for quite sometime
