KANSAS CITY, Mo. − For most people, challenging a 200 foot roller coaster at Worlds
of Fun is a daredevil experience, but for Nik Wallenda, the park’s scream machines
are mere child’s play.  Wallenda, the King of the High Wire, will attempt one of the
most daring stunts of the summer as he walks a wire high atop Worlds of Fun on
Sunday, June 14, at 3pm.

At more than 150 feet in the air, Wallenda will attempt to walk 500 feet across the
park to the top of the Detonator thrill ride. Nik will perform this amazing stunt
with no safety net, safety wire, or harness.

Known as the ‘King of the High’ wire, Wallenda currently holds two Guinness World
Records, including the longest distance and greatest height ever traveled on a high
wire by bicycle, set in October 2008. He is the seventh generation of the Great
Wallendas and began his high wire career at the age of four.

Observation of this death defying stunt is included with Worlds of Fun admission on
June 4, 2009.  Guests can save up to $15 per ticket when visiting worldsoffun.com
and taking advantage of the June special offer coupon, 4 Sunday admissions for just
$99. For more information, visit worldsoffun.com or call (816) 454-4545.

Worlds of Fun and Oceans of Fun are owned and operated by Cedar Fair Entertainment
Company, a publicly traded partnership that is listed for trading on The New York
Stock Exchange under the symbol “FUN”. In addition to Worlds of Fun and Oceans of
Fun, Cedar Fair owns and operates 10 other amusement parks, five other waterparks,
one indoor waterpark resort, and five hotels.  Cedar Fair also operates Gilroy
Gardens Family Theme Park in Gilroy, California, under a management contract.

You should get a nice view -- isn't it supposed to go over Camp Snoopy to Detonator?

Here are some shots from this afternoon.

The crane holding the other end.

Nik Wallenda showing an employee how to handle one of the guide wires.

Manning a guide wire.

Snoopy overseeing the training.

Camp Snoopy guide wire team.

Leaving the safety of Detonator.

YIKES!

Walking towards the crane

Turning around.

Headin' back.

Almost there.

Just a few more steps.

A quick break and a wave to the crowd.

A cool Patriot shot.

Haha that guy is NUTS!!  He was joking around on the high wire from what I heard from some of the guests.  He slipped a little but recovered, bent down and shook one fist in the air, then ran to the other side.  I saw a little bit when he started and when he got to the other side.

So glad to hear he made it across all well and stuff. I knew he would but it's always good to know he made it across the wire safely. But from the pictures it looked like the event went very well and there was a good turnout for it.

He walked from a crane to Xtreme Swing so nope. I thought he was going to, I would've gotten more footage if I had known he wasn't going to be walking back.
