Last time I rode Fury of the Nile I got quite wet. We didn't have enough weight displacement (girls on one side, guys on other) so the heavy end kept dipping into the waves. We got pretty soaked.
My girlfriend and I were up at ValleyFair a couple years ago. It was a cool day, mid sixties. We got off Excalibur and noticed people coming out the raft ride. They didn't look real wet at all, so we decided to give it a go. The have a storage locker for personal items in the station, but they wouldn't let us use it for some reason. We had to take our stuff with us. I should have figured right then that this was a bad idea, but for some reason I was determined to ride.
We hopped into a boat, just the two of us, and off we went. The ride starts off pretty lazy, but starts to pick up a little speed. You turn a corner and slow down quite a bit. Continuing the corner you come across a pretty aggressive waterfall, we just missed getting soaked, we thought we were lucky! Then around the next corner, another waterfall! This one got me pretty good. I had my cellphone in my pocket, so I pulled it out and popped the battery off quick so it wouldn't fry out. I stuck the rest of the components in my girlfriend's purse, and we carried on our way. This part of the ride was quite lazy as we were at the bottom of the hill. We got a nice view of Renegade. I was terrified that we were going to get shot by some water cannons like on Nile, but nothing. The end of the ride is a lift hill like Fury of the Nile, but quite a bit slower...and longer. We looked to the top of the lift, and they had what appeared to be a makeshift garden hose that was dumping water on the boats as they climbed the lift. This was the most cruel part of the ride, as there was no way to avoid the cold cold water being dumped from above. We were completely trashed after the ride, and very cold.
Later, as we started drying out (which took a long long cold time). I decided it would be safe to ride the log flume. Most log flumes don't get you wet, so I figured it would be okay. It was a really pretty ride, sunk into the ground with lots of vegetation to enjoy. A tunnel lye ahead...could be fun. Inside the tunnel, the track takes a left hand curve after a short dip. Upon exiting the curve you come across the most awful thing ever conceived for such a ride. A literal WALL of water to go through as you exit the tunnel. I was so P***ed that I may have shouted some obscenities. The lift hill at the end, and following drop were kind of nice and relaxing, but that waterfall was brutal. We didn't ride to many things after that, as the water was soaked to the bone now, and it was getting cold out...
