I personally doubt that Cedar Point will play the coaster count game again.  They've done a great job of building a well rounded park and I think that they should continue to focus on that.

I also would image that a new coaster would be in their plans sometime in the next 2-3 years.

I wouldn't hold your breath or bet the house on that one.

^Do you think that they would add more than one in a year?  I just don't think that loosing the crown will cause them to change their 5 year plan.

A kiddie coaster and a GCI wouldn't be stretching it too much

Not any worse than a Tony Hawk's Big Spin.

^ Tony Hawk's Big Spin can run 1400 people per hour.

Kirnu (an Intamin Zacspin) has an estimated 640 riders per hour.

Intamin's most recent Zacspin, Insane only gets 800 riders per hour.

In other words, a Zacspin has historically shown to have far worse hourly capacity than Tony Hawk's Big Spin.

You forgot your asterick (*) there stating that those figures are from significantly smaller ZacSpin models.  This will be the largest to date built.

Good point.  I could see that.  Or maybe a dueling woodie.

1400 is still quite a lot more people than 800. Even though this is much bigger than Insane, I still wouldn't be surprised if the capacity figure ended up considerably smaller than 1400.

The largest model on Intamin's website puts capacity at 960.  It's more than Déjà Vu, which is listed at 870 but based on that line I would image that the line for Green Lanter will move painfully slow.

It looks like a wicked fun ride though.  A park the size of WoF would do really well with a ride like that.

There's no way that Déjà Vu fulfills that figure.  That was probably estimated prior to the added seatbelts and didn't factor in the amount of difficulty for guests actually locating their seats.

Prowler on the other hand gets around 850 pph.

So if the 960 figure is accurate I would guess that wait times for Green Lantern (West) would move at a similar pace to Terminator Salvation.

Well, considering 2 or 3 years ago the  SF CEO stated that they were done with the coaster "Cold War" as he put it, I wouldn't be surprised if CF changes their plans as well  :dunno:

Didn't SF change CEO's earlier this year?

Either way it looks like Cedar Point is much better park overall than Magic Mountain.  Straying from their plan only to try and win the title of most coasters wouldn't make sense to me.

I will tell you in my own experiencing and the way I feel, not too much of a fan of SFMM. Middle of the desert. hard to navigate and zero theming. I would take Cedar Point and its " low number" of coasters anyday and enjoy a true amusement park.

I enjoyed SFMM, but I just didn't feel like there were any real standout coasters. X2 is cool. Tatsu is my favorite flyer. Riddler is a really nice stand-up. But it's like the park is missing its signature. With that many coasters, you'd think at least one would crack my top ten, but nope. Maybe part of it is that they've just been jamming the park full of coaster after coaster after coaster for the past few years that they've lost their meaning.

(edit: must have typed this on my phone - I promise you, I know that the coaster is called Tatsu and not Tarsus, haha)

For me X2 was a religious experience.  So I will go back to that park time and again just for that ride alone.  But I did get the feeling that the park was missing something.  It is hard to put your finger on exactly what though.

Maybe it is the complete lack of any "flat" rides worth note.  It't kind of bizarre to be at a park that big without any signature flat rides.

I agree with Ben. I've never been to SFMM but just looking at the park on there website, they really dont have some huge standout flat ride unlike Cedar Point who has MaXair, Power Tower, Skyhawk, and the list goes on. If MM could just get some huge standout flat from Intamin or Huss they'd do fine. Even a S&S ride would do wonders.

^Deja Vu has got to be one of the roughest coasters I've rode. I dont know how it is at SFMM but when it was at SFoG it was horrible. Not as bad as Ninja but right up there. Ninja is the worst coaster I've rode....

Really? I loved Deja Vu at Great America. It was nice and smooth. Never got the chance to ride it at SFOG and it was closed for Terminator's construction when I was at SFMM, so that may have been the exception, but it was definitely a welcome change from the traditional Vekoma Boomerang.

I rode the Chicago Deja Vu in 2005 and thought it was okay.  The Atlanta version, however, I found to be completely brutal in 2009.  I don't know if the different rides provided different experiences or if my mood and overall fatigue just varied that much.

Personally, I love KI's Invertigo more than either or them.

^cannot really compare the two as they are completely different experiences.

The seating arrangement for 'Vu really hurts it, imho
