Onsite Patriot Construction Tour 2-26!!!
« on: Feb 26, 2006, 08:52 »
Worlds of Fun’s PR Manager Nick Guevel treated the Coaster Community team to a tour of Patriot’s construction site.  This resulted in over 100 hi-resolution photos and a lot of answered questions about the ride.  We were able to learn that Patriot will likely feature a lift hill lighting package similar to the LED package on Silver Bullet.  The current lights that night time drivers are seeing are the emergency lights.  The que will be in front of the station and go under the lift hill prior to attaching to the steps and the steps on the west side of the station are for chickens.  The que will also be completely covered.  Rockin Reeler’s pad is being turned into Rockin’ brick patio and will be a major part of the Patriot plaza.  The pull through will occur in the next week or so if everything goes as planned and full blown testing should start shortly after that.

The onride photo spot is still not set in stone so be sure to check in later for additional updates.

Here's a link to the photos.

Well lets see if I can help ya Dustijn, and everyone else. Well Timber wolf is having work done, it is NOT being completely retracked, sections are being fixed and repaired, but the actual amount of work he was not totally sure of. They are working on it now, but with the Patriot construction, the main focus is on that now.  The Que will be covered, so the sunlight will be less. The midway in the Beat street area will be poured soon and will be cement. They are putting in new lighting and fence. The new fence is really tall, I would say the fence has to be every bit of four feet. It has a top slanted piec and open middle, Nick is not sure what the middle will be, he said it could be a rope mesh fence, or slats. The old RR site is not a viewing spot for Patriot, They have put nice pave stones down and made the area look real nice, and side note, rr has not been sold yet for anybody wondering. I am affraid it will meet its end like OR and Omegatron. New paint will be around the whole park, mostly touchup, Nick also made mention That Boomerang will recive a new coat of paint. Test will start real soon in fact next week he stated they were planning a pull through for clearnace testing and when that is complete the dry runs will start, which could well be in a week. Extra stairs on the south side is the Chicken exit from load side. Halloweekends, will be bigger and yes COCC will move, to and Undisclosed area. Coaster Mayhem will be awasome guys, and I hope everyone will be there, alot of things will be happening and will be worth going for sure. And finally, Dustijn Nick is so busy right now and has not had time to reply to e-mails, Mine took awhile too. He was very awsome to meet and I appreciate him taking his own personal time on his day off to give us the tour. He is a great guy that is very excited about the project, and will to help out with the coaster fans too and I appreciate that.

Nick was a great host and a lot of fun to hang out with.  I hope that we get to spend more time with him in the future.

It was really cool being able to walk around all over the coaster and being able to see everything up close.  Just being in the park when it was closed was actually pretty cool.  It's was so strange not to see a single soul on any of the paths and to have the park so ominously quite.

You should team up with the underpants gnomes.

Let's see how many people get this one.  I fear that my poor sense of humor limits the crowd that I can reach. :help:

I feel better now.

Did anyone catch the joke in the new photo update?  It's another one that will probably only apply to people between the ages of 25 and 33 or so.

FYI the picture of our travel editor waiting in line is currently one of the 5 most popular. :icon_queen:

Has anyone seen FrontEntrancePlaza Man latetly?  I forgot to mention that Nick brought up the front entrance plaza but didn't mention a specific plan.  It sounds like it's on their radar though.

About bloody time!!!  I really think that they could take out one of the Tivoli catering buildings and then the entire Balkaan Bazaar and redo that area so that it feels like the front entrance.

Triple Dip is now officially Sheridan's FYI and Tut's Fries is now ZardaQ Express.

Josh, I will take any glimmer of hope that I can get with regards to a new front gate.  I STILL think they should have put that in before adding PATRIOT, but perhaps they will see that it HAS to be done after the crowds they get this season.

Well Nick has made mention to the need of the entrance, so it atleast is being noticed. Hey also two thing I for got that Nick had said was that the Bathroom behind the rangers station is also being redone aswell for this season. And the last thing is that K lot is receiveing some attention, but is not being resurfaced, just touched up.

K lot sure could use some work though. I am glad to see them working on it. I cannot wait to see cars packed into that area, I think that will be so awsome.

I take it you missed opening year for Mamba back in 98?  Man that year was nuts.  I wonder where they will park the overflow crowd of cars now as they were using the lawn that Patriot is sitting on for a few weekends that year.

Well that was the last time I have seen that. I was there for opening, and we parked in the grass, alot of people. Well they may still park some cars there in the field. THere will be a fence around Patriot and the area should be secured enough for some parking I think.
