We can finally confirm to everyone that Kings Dominion will be getting a new coaster for the 2010 season. Clearing has already been reported behind Anaconda. But it doesn't stop there, the city of Hanover County, where Kings Dominion is located, has a section on their site where Kings Dominion is trying to get approval for a 2010 new roller-coaster, and even talks about how it may interact with the lake next to Rebel Yell. Details.

I would guess closer to the same size and layout of Diamondback, with perhaps even a splashdown in that lake.

The problem with a splashdown in a lake that size is, you cannot control the water as easily. More water would have to be filtered and there is a better chance of the water not behaving the way you want it to. This was one of the biggest reasons for why Diamondback's lake (swan lake) was reduced so much in size.

In other news, there is a rumor going around about Carowinds' hyper for next year being themed to Dale Earnhart to be called THE INTIMIDATOR. I guess he's from around that area and then you have the fact that Charlotte Motor Speedway (Lowe's) is in the area -- that park would be PACKED on a race weekend if that happened.

As everyone knows, it does appear that Kings Dominion is on slate for a new coaster in 2010. I will be up at the park this Saturday to do a news story for WCN on the 2009 season as well as a funnel cake contest they are having. Ed from the marketing department hinted to me today that perhaps this summer we will get an announcement on what is coming to the park. Stay tuned as we may get more details Saturday.

This is great for the park! Glad to hear that they might be getting something new and I'm looking forward to hearing about it some more when time comes for KD to announce it. Be sure to do a PTR for us.

KD is such a spoiled park. They pretty much got a new addition every year while a Paramount Park and it hasn't stopped since CF took over. Even if they were attractions moved from Geauga Lake, it still has received something every single season since being overtaken.

CGA and Carowinds have really been patient and I am glad that Carowinds is finally getting their new coaster next year as well. I realize they got a used Boomerang this year, but seriously before that the last coaster they got was a used Vekoma Flying Dutchman, and the prototype at that.

I'd love to see KD get a 300Ft B&M coaster. I dont think B&M has ever gone over nor came close to 300 so that'd be very unique and fun.

Sadly your right there. I don't think we'll see B&M go that high for some time. I think Intamins the master of 300Ft so far. They did a fantastic job with Millennium Force.

I wrote the same thing, I just put it in absolute terms, which was dumb since it was just an opinion. I don't have any idea what KD is up to.

I'm pretty sure that's Intamin. Those look like Intamin supports for sure because B&M support dont have as many holes for bolts on them I dont think. Intamin has a ton of bolt holes in them.

^A VERY good question definetly. The supports sadly can't say much except what company it is. I wish they could say more but lets hope for a nice ride with a lot of ejector air or just flat out airtime in it. Some nice, smooth, banked turns would also be a plus inside the layout.

I'm hoping for a Megalite -- and if they have to take out that Arrow looper to fit it all in, I would be just fine with that.

B&M would have no need to put their parts in containers, they ship from Cincinnati, OH. Intamin...unless really overburdened, will fabricate and ship overseas.
