Millennium Force down...way down...
« on: May 28, 2009, 02:10 »
Looks as though the catch car that hoists the train to the top of the lift decided to take a trip down the 80 degree drop

While this could be a serious issue, I don't doubt Cedar Point will get it fixed in a very fast manner. After all, they replaced four sections of track on Maverick and had it open in under two weeks!

I wonder how that happens.  I'm guessing that the cable snapped behind the catch car which then allowed it to fall down the drop.

Hopefully it's just a quick cable change.

Lets hope they can fix this phenomenal ride as soon as possible. It's just not the same going to the Point without riding Millennium Force. It is such a great ride filled with airtime and it's not the same without it.

Odd.  I would have thought the catch car would have a little track that it can't get out of, especially at the "top" of the ride.  I believe the catch car track actually extends past the station load area to a place where it could be removed.   I didn't think the top of the lift would be that way.

Of course this makes me wonder if it "shouldn't" have.  I wonder if the riders on the train noticed anything...

I'm sure they heard a loud noise, but that's about it.

That picture looks so very strange, in fact when I first saw it it looked more like a cracked lens from the camera that took rather than a broken ride.  Something about that crackled mess up against the graceful lines of MF just doesn't add up.

If a coaster could be considered "natural" then that is definitely "unnatural"
