Our news is provided by William Bernstein, Jr. from Coaster Worlds News. Be sure to click on the News link for the latest info from around the globe. Since most of us travel to fulfill our coaster riding addictions we'll also work to provide you with the best information on hotels, restaurants and entertainment options. I know that I've stayed in a hotel or two that I wouldn't wish upon anyone and you can never have too much info on good food. Our primary travel writers are Cory Bunting (CoasterCory06) and Bradley Robertson. We promise to provide everyone with access to high resolution photos from all of the parks that we visit along with the construction updates that we're able to obtain. The world famous Ben handles our videos, which can be found in our Gallery on our YouTube site or Ben's High Def Vimeo page. In addition to being an awesome site we also offer our memebers access to our awesome club. The benefit to being a club member is ability to attend park sponsored events that Coaster Community has partnered with. Please check in our forums for a running list of park events each year. The annual fee for club membership is $10. For more information about the club and our code of conduct please click HERE We hope to hear from all of you in the forums. Another update and another day of frozen feet. The temperature today was about 20 when we were out there. At least the ground was frozen so we didn't have to worry about being knee deep in mud. The lift is progressing down towards the creek and a couple of new bents were put in place while we were there. They crossed over the brake run, which is a pretty tight fit and the next obstacle will be the 2nd hill. The return run will also cross through the base of the lift as it head up towards the final turn. It will be interesting to see how they put these final pieces together. The peirs are now complete for both sides of the lift bridge and work has started on a giant concrete block that will house the lift motor. The footer trenches from the station to the lift bridge were poured today and the only significant concrete work left is the actual footers. If the weather holds they hope to have the return bridge in place by the end of the week. The lift bridge will require a larger crane and might not happen until some time in early January. Each girder of the lift bridge weighs 14,000 pounds. The lift will start heading up as soon as it station side of the bridge. |

We scored our first snow tour this afternoon and it gave me a chance to play with a new super wide angle lens. It had been over 2 weeks since our last visit and a lot had changed. Bent placement up the 2nd hill has almost reached the lift. They've also place some of the brake run that runs under the 2nd hill. The maintenance area is now 3 concrete slabs and the bridge piers are in place for the creek crossing. Bridge piers for the lift are in place on the station side of the creek but not yet complete on the ride side. Track work on the return run has made it's way to the double down and the shape of the drops is now visible. The out run has started creeping it's way back towards the lift area. Prowler Discussion |
